First up, is my homemade, off white, 1930’s lace Wedding Dress (with a 1930’s silk slip). I knew as soon as my (now) husband proposed to me, that there was no question, that I was going to get married in a Vintage Wedding Dress. The winter after we got engaged, we took our annual trip to Chicago, and found this incredible 1930’s gem at one of my favorite vintage haunts. The lace was in impeccable condition, and the dress fit like it was made for me. Needless to say, we quickly decided it was the one. We got married on March 25, 2017 (while I was 17 weeks pregnant). It’s safe to say, it is my absolute fondest moment to date while wearing vintage.

One of my all time favorite vintage items to collect is, turn of the century Edwardian lawn dresses. I’m not quite sure what it is, that draws me to them. Perhaps it’s their timeless etherealness, I imagine sophisticated ladies gathering on the grounds of some Manse in the summer, for a long afternoon picnic. Or, maybe it’s just the softness of the thin cloud like cotton fabric, that brings me back me to them, time and time again.
The pieces in this particular photo are actually an Edwardian 3/4 sleeve, cotton lawn dress, an Edwardian cotton lawn skirt (from a 2 piece set, worn over the dress) a 1940’s white cotton slip underneath it all, and it’s topped with a 1960’s pink chiffon headscarf worn here as a belt (to help disguise that fact that I couldn’t button the skirt all the way due to my ever expanding pregnant waistline ha ha). It was an absolute joy to step back in time to 1912 by wearing these incredible treasures.

Lastly, is my 1950’s, Catalina cotton swim/sun suit. This was one of the first vintage pieces that I ever bought and my first vintage swim/sun piece. It was only fitting that I wore this particular piece for my second ever, pinup modeling shoot over 6 years ago. It was a glorious day, spent in the sun, shooting on the shores of Lake Huron in Lexington, MI. My little sun suit felt right at home and it definitely sparked, a still continuing infatuation with early and mid century swim and sun wear!
Thank you so much for letting me share some of my favorite vintage pieces with you! Xoxo Ada Vice
